Faith-Filled Mornings: Starting With Prayer and a Cup of Peace
Share
Let me be honest—I don’t always have slow, picture-perfect mornings. I’m a mom. I run a small business. I help other entrepreneurs build theirs. Most days, I’m juggling a to-do list before I’ve even had time to sit with my own thoughts, much less drink a full cup of tea while it’s hot.
But I’ve learned (slowly, and still learning) that I cannot run on fumes and expect to pour out peace—to my family, to my clients, or to myself. That’s why I’ve started anchoring my mornings in two things I know make a difference: prayer and tea.
This isn’t a fancy morning routine. It’s not always quiet. Sometimes I whisper a prayer while making breakfast. Sometimes my tea goes cold before I finish it. But in the small, imperfect rhythm of choosing to begin with God, I find peace I can’t manufacture on my own.
☀️ Why These Mornings Matter
In Mark 1:35, we’re told:
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”
Even Jesus made time to step away and connect with the Father—before the noise, before the needs. That encourages me. It reminds me that I don’t have to show up to God polished and ready—I just have to show up.
🙏 What a Faith-Filled Morning Looks Like (for me)
This isn’t a perfect checklist. It’s a practice. A lifeline.
1. A Whispered Prayer in the Mess
Sometimes it’s as simple as:
“Lord, help me meet this day with grace. I can’t do this without You.”
No fancy words, no routine required. Just honesty.
2. A Cup of Something Grounding
Lately I’ve been reaching for London Fog or Elderberry Magic—something gentle that tells my body, “you’re safe.” But also a tidbit of caffeine, because... Lord knows I need it! These blends are full of herbs I believe God created as gifts for our wellbeing. I don’t take that lightly. I steep them as an act of care—for myself, and for the day ahead.
3. A Verse or Two—Nothing Big
I’m not always in a deep Bible study mode. But I can open to the Psalms, or reread a verse I’ve scribbled in my planner:
“Great is Your faithfulness; Your mercies are new every morning.” – Lamentations 3:23
4. A Moment to Write or Breathe
If I have two quiet minutes (before tiny feet hit the floor), I’ll jot down:
- One thing I’m thankful for
- One thing I’m surrendering
- One thing I’m trusting God with
Sometimes, just doing that feels like a win.
🌼 When the Morning Doesn’t Go As Planned
And when the morning is chaos? I remind myself:
- God is still with me.
- Peace isn’t found in a schedule—it’s found in His presence.
- I can start over at 2pm if I need to.
Wellness is my ministry—but not because I’ve mastered it. It’s because I need it, too. Every candle I pour, every tea I blend, every prayer I whisper over a new product—it all starts with this belief:
God has given us what we need to nourish and restore our minds, bodies, and spirits.
I’m just here to remind you (and myself) to pause and use it.
🫖 Create a Morning Corner That Feels Like Grace
You don’t need a perfect setup. But if you want to make this feel special, here’s what I keep nearby:
- My Bible or a devotional that speaks truth
- A mug and a tea I love (London Fog or Elderberry Magic are my morning go-to’s)
- A journal and pen for whatever God lays on my heart
- A small wooden tealight candle to center the space. I handcraft these for this use, exactly!
If even one of those things gets used, I call it a good morning.
